Advanced Apprenticeships are Government funded qualifications for 16-24 year olds which combine the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) for a particular industry sector with high level key skills. They enable you, the employer, to tailor the programme to suit your company's needs. Because NVQs are designed to assess the competence of an employee in the workplace, your Advanced Apprentice will learn a broad range of practical skills that are relevant to your business. It is also possible for existing employees aged 16-24 to take advantage of this training.
Each Advanced Apprenticeship framework brings together learning and achievement from three areas:
| The occupation.... | The company... | The sector... |
| NVQ level 3 in your occupational area plus key skills such as numeracy, communication, IT and personal development | Tailored by your organisation to ensure your Advanced Apprentice understands your company, business objectives, safe working practices, products and services, and any needs specific to your business | Knowledge of your sector, including health and safety, finance, products and services, marketing and any specific sector needs such as accounting, banking, information systems etc |
