Apprenticeships are Government funded qualifications for 16-19 year olds.   The Apprenticeship enables you, the employer, to tailor a training programme to meet your business needs and those of the learner . It is also possible for existing employees aged 16-19 to take advantage of this training.

After completing an initial assessment, the learner could follow a development and certification programme with us in either

During the programme, the learner will also be trained to develop competence in technical and key skill areas including:

Communication

This means that the learner will not only be technically competent but will also have complementary skills to make them more effective in the workplace.  Click on headings below to view and hide answers to some FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).

What's the catch?
There isn't one.  All we ask is that you provide a suitable work placement, day release to attend the Witham Campus each week and pay the learner a salary (current minimum £80).
Of course, if you want to offer them permanent employment during the programme and give them the opportunity to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship, you may do so at any time.  However, if you do, we do hope that you will continue to support and encourage the young person to achieve their full potential by allowing day release and NVQ assessment facilities to complete their training programme.
What does the placement have to provide?
The learner should be able to experience all the day to day activities and routines of a busy working environment.
Learners gain the most from a real work situation and will gather evidence for their NVQ from working in the organisation.
They should be part of the team and be able to utilise all their skills to the advantage of your business.
